Overview

WellDatabase is looking for a Market Analyst to lead the creation of original insights, intelligence reports, and commentary around oil and gas mergers and acquisitions. This role combines research, writing, data analysis, and public engagement. You’ll build and maintain a proprietary M&A database, generate basin-specific intelligence, and create compelling narratives based on public data—all using the WellDatabase platform.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and continually update a structured database of oil & gas M&A activity
• Write clear, engaging analysis articles and data-driven breakdowns of industry consolidation trends
• Create basin-specific intelligence reports that highlight market shifts, operator strategies, and competitive positioning
• Use the WellDatabase platform to produce original insights from public regulatory and production data
• Present research findings to professional societies, trade groups, and customers via webinars, conferences, and digital platforms
• Work with product and marketing teams to align research output with platform capabilities and customer interest
• Monitor industry trends, corporate moves, and key developments to identify emerging patterns and opportunities for analysis

Skills & Requirements

• Strong background in oil & gas market research, business intelligence, or upstream analytics
• Familiarity with industry M&A dynamics, corporate strategies, and basin-level trends
• Experience using public oil and gas data (e.g., production, permits, completions, acreage, etc.)
• Excellent writing and editorial skills—able to turn data into compelling narratives
• Proficiency with Excel, SQL, or data tools to manipulate and query datasets
• Comfort presenting to professional audiences and communicating complex topics with clarity
• Self-directed, organized, and excited to build new processes from the ground up
